Embracing Change: A Journey to Self-Recovery

By Mirna Mostafa · Published 28 December 2023

Someone once told me, "After you chase somebody for so long, eventually your legs get tired, and you get fed up. That’s when you know it’s over. That’s when you know it’s time to move on." Just let them go. Admit the fact that they’re not here anymore. Don’t listen to anyone who tries to bring you down. You WILL get out of this. You WILL move on, forget about this whole thing, laugh again until you cry and hurt your stomach, achieve all your goals relying on no one but yourself, make yourself proud and happy all over again. You WILL be okay. But someday, always keep in mind that it takes time to repair what is broken. Trust me, it’s all about a matter of time. Just walk away and never look back on what you left behind. It doesn’t necessarily mean you forget about this whole thing in the meantime, but it just means that you have to accept what happened and cope with this whole thing from now on. You’ll be upset for days, months, and years. It’s going to be awful, but don’t you ever give up! Keep moving on. Keep making peace with your inner self. Keep yourself in touch with your inner wisdom. Keep that self-destructive and harmful attitude away from you. Keep spreading those positive vibes wherever you go. Keep that enormous smile on your face all day long. Keep laughing hard whenever you hear a joke, even if it’s ridiculous. Keep watching your favorite movie over and over again, watch it until you get bored of it. Keep replaying your absolute favorite ultimate party playlist frequently until you end up disliking it. Keep spoiling and treating yourself as a child. Keep rewarding and pampering yourself all day, every day. Keep treating yourself to something nice. Keep falling in love with your irresistible delicious midnight snack. Keep working out hard. Keep challenging yourself. Keep enjoying the aftermath of your daily intense training. Keep hitting the gym. Keep creating and throwing your own dance party any time you want. Keep thinking about that epic dance party of all time! Keep ignoring people you no longer wish to be around. Keep rejecting their phone calls and messages if you don’t want to text them back. Keep following your passion. Keep doing what makes you happy. Keep doing what you love, and last but not least, KEEP LIVING until your last breath. Be thankful for what you have and MAKE YOUR LIFE WORTH LIVING. Don’t waste your time on people who take you for granted. Don’t take things too seriously. Don’t make things complicated. Don’t be a grown-up! You are worth being loved and appreciated. You are worth being cherished. You are worth an effort. You are worth being someone’s everything. Learn how to love, value, and appreciate yourself. Trust me, you deserve better! Take a step forward and MOVE ON!
